BOSTON, November 5, 2024 (VSNewsNetwork.com) – Law firm, Ropes & Gray, has announced the return of Zak Goodwin as a partner within its antitrust practice, based in the Boston office. Goodwin re-joins the firm after serving as senior corporate counsel for antitrust at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., where he regularly advised on complex antitrust issues. His prior experience includes serving as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division.
According to the firm, Goodwin’s addition strengthens its antitrust team in a period of increasing regulatory scrutiny. "Zak is returning to Ropes & Gray at just the right time. Recent shifts in the regulatory environment are raising novel antitrust issues across the global life sciences industry. Our clients need the competitive edge that Zak's unique blend of sophisticated antitrust expertise, government experience and deep life sciences sector knowledge will give them," said Julie Jones, chair of Ropes & Gray.
Goodwin’s work history includes securing global regulatory clearances for Thermo Fisher’s acquisition of Olink Proteomics, with investigations by regulators in Germany and the U.K. He also worked on the U.S. Department of Justice team that blocked the Anthem-Cigna merger, a case involving the largest proposed health insurance acquisition to date.
