ANN ARBOR, Mich., January 9, 2025 (VSNewsNetwork.com) — Automation trade organization, the Association for Advancing Automation (A3), has promoted Alex Shikany to executive vice president. Shikany will manage key operations, oversee strategic initiatives, and lead the A3 Leadership Team in his new role.

According to the company, in his capacity as executive vice president, Shikany will serve as the primary liaison to the A3 Board of Directors and work to enhance member value and foster collaboration across the Association’s global network.

“It’s an honor to step into this new role and further A3’s mission to drive innovation and growth in the global automation industry. I am grateful for the incredible team at A3, as well as our talented members and community, whose efforts drive meaningful change and innovation worldwide,” said Shikany.

A3 President Jeff Burnstein described Shikany’s promotion as pivotal to the Association’s ongoing expansion. “Over the past five years, we’ve doubled our team, established Automate as North America’s leading annual robotics and automation event, and expanded internationally into Mexico and India. With A3 in its strongest position ever, Alex’s leadership in internal operations allows me to focus on long-term strategy, including partnerships, accelerating adoption of automation, and growing our global footprint,” Burnstein said.

His efforts have shaped our direction, and I am confident he will continue to elevate the Association’s impact on the automation industry,” Burnstein added.

Shikany joined A3 in 2012 as director of Market Analysis and has since taken on increasingly impactful roles. In 2021, he led a two-year rebranding initiative that unified four organizations under the A3 umbrella, setting the stage for the Association’s continued growth. He also spearheaded efforts to expand A3’s global membership to more than 1,300 companies and advanced its market intelligence capabilities in robotics, machine vision, motion control, and artificial intelligence.

The Association represents manufacturers, suppliers, system integrators, academic institutions, and other entities in the automation sector. A3 also organizes major industry events, including Automate, scheduled for May 12-15, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan, and the International Robot Safety Conference, set for November 3-5, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
