PHOENIX, December 15, 2023 (VSNewsNetwork.com) - Chisholm, the renowned longhorn steer and a staple of Earnhardt Auto Centers' advertising, has died at the age of 27, as announced by the company. Known for his appearances with Tex Earnhardt, the founder of Earnhardt Auto Centers, Chisholm became an iconic figure in the brand's marketing campaigns.

Chisholm's partnership with Tex Earnhardt in commercials spanned over a decade, ending with Tex's passing in April 2020. The duo's image became a central theme in the company's branding, appearing in advertisements, website photos, and on various promotional items.

Reflecting on the choice of Chisholm for the ads, Hal Earnhardt, a family member, said, “Dad always said he chose Chisholm for his gentle temperament and noble bearing. Chisholm, for his part, always seemed happy wherever Dad was.”

Chris Kerr from Earnhardt’s marketing team recalled working with Chisholm, stating, “It was always fun to shoot a commercial with Chisholm. We just had to keep an eye on his head. Those near-record length horns could knock you into the mud if you weren’t careful. But he sure was a big, sweet gentle giant.”

The company's famous slogan, “Earnhardt -- it's a name you can trust, and that ain't no bull!” originated from a 1953 parade incident. When asked how he kept the bull so calm, Tex famously responded, “…this? This ain’t no bull!” This phrase became synonymous with the company's branding and marketing approach.

Nature Earnhardt, a member of the company’s media department, shared a personal aspect of Chisholm's life beyond advertising: “While Chisholm was known due to Grandpa’s commercials, he was actually a beloved family pet. It wasn’t just the treats in our pockets that made Chisholm happy to see us. He was part of the family.”

After Tex Earnhardt’s death, Chisholm retired to the family's ranch, where he was cared for by Tex's children and grandchildren. The company is paying tribute to Chisholm’s memory with special mentions on their websites and social media.

Jim Babe Earnhardt, expressing his feelings about Chisholm's passing, said, “Like my Dad, Chisholm was truly one of a kind. As I told my family, Tex and his buddy are riding the range together once again.”
